Gills caretaker boss Steve Lovell has been nominated for League 1's manager of the month award for October.

Lovell only took charge when Peter Taylor departed midway through the month but picked up seven points from his first four league games in charge.

Gills won at Peterborough and Rotherham under Lovell's leadership, drew at home to Wigan and lost to Northampton at Priestfield.

Other managers up for the award on the four-man shortlist are Wigan's Paul Cook, Charlton's Karl Robinson and Richie Wellens, of Oldham.

The winner will be announced on Friday.
