Man charged by Kent Police following arrest at match between Gillingham and Lincoln City

A Gillingham man will appear in court later this month facing charges of assault after a confrontation during a recent football match at Priestfield.

Ross Mitchell, 39, of Arden Street, has been charged with two counts of assault by beating following his arrest during the Gillingham versus Lincoln City match at Priestfield Stadium on August 7, 2021.

He has been bailed to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, September, 30.

Trouble occurred between spectators inside the Gillingham home section and visiting players after Lincoln City celebrated a goal in the League 1 match.

At the time, Lincoln City player Cohen Bramall was understood to have made a statement to police about an incident.

Police arrested a 39-year-old man from Gillingham in connection with an alleged racially aggravated assault. There have been no charges relating to racism.
