Former Gills favourite Ady Pennock insists he remains focused on the job at Forest Green Rovers.

Pennock played over 150 league games for the Gills between 1996 and 2003 and has been linked with the current vacancy at Priestfield.

That has promoted the Conference Premier club Forest Green to issue a statement, which doesn’t actually rule anything out.

Pennock said: “I’m very happy at Forest Green.

"The ambition of the club, the support I’ve received from the chairman, the backing I’ve got from the fans and the commitment of the players.

“My focus, my coaching staff’s focus and my players focus remains squarely on achieving the best results that we can for Forest Green Rovers and the fans.”

Gills chairman Paul Scally is continuing his hunt for a new manager and on Tuesday former boss Andy Hessenthaler distanced himself from the job.

A four-man team, including Hessenthaler, are currently overseeing the management duties while Scally decides.
