Former Charlton Athletic youngster Brandon Hanlan has signed for the Gills.

The 21-year-old front-man has signed a two-year deal with the club.

Hanlan was released by the Addicks after spending the second half of last season at National League side Bromley.

"I'm excited to start a new journey and it's good to come to a club where I already know the gaffer."

Gillingham boss Steve Lovell has added striker Brandon Hanlan to his squad

Lovell coached Hanlan as a youngster at Charlton and knows all of his qualities.

He said: "He’s a powerful, determined centre forward who will cause problems for any defence in League 1.

“He’s tall, he’s strong and a good finisher. I think he will do very well for us."

The pacey forward scored three goals for Bromley during his stint there, which included an appearance in the final of the FA Trophy at Wembley, while he also scored twice for League 2 Colchester United during an earlier loan spell in the same season.

It was his second loan period at Bromley after scoring four goals in eight league starts for the south Londoners during the previous year.

He came through the academy at Charlton but was limited to game-time at The Valley, making just nine substitute appearance for the club in the league. He made his debut in August 2016, coming off the bench in their first game of the season that year, following relegation from the Championship.
