Striker Liam Nash is free to leave Gillingham.

The 23-year-old has played just 15 games for the club since joining at the start of the 2017/18 season.

He has recently been on trial with Irish side Cork City and his time at Gillingham now looks to be at end end.

Gills boss Steve Lovell said no deal had been agreed with Cork but that they were interested in him.

“I have left it up to other people to deal with that,” Lovell said.

“I have said that he can go, his contract is up at the end of the year and he hasn’t figured for us this season. If a club want to take him and give him that opportunity then we are not going to stand in the way of the lad. He wants to go and play football.

“It is unfortunate that he hasn’t been given the chance here but we have had a lot of other forwards infront of him.

“He is a good lad, he understands. Let’s hope he gets sorted out and he can go and he can continue his career.”

Cork are preparing for a new League of Ireland Premier Division season and invited Nash over for a trial, which has been successful.

In games last week, the 23-year-old striker scored twice in City’s win over Killarney Celtic and scored again in the match with Kerry District League.

Nash has failed to register a goal for the Gills in his time at the club, arriving under previous manager Ady Pennock with high hopes after scoring freely for Essex non-league side Maldon & Tiptree.

He recently spent time on loan at Concord Rangers, returning to the Gills and sitting on the bench for the game at Burton but his only first team appearance for the club this season came in the Checkatrade Trophy, making a substitute appearance at Portsmouth.
