Striker Joe Quigley could return to Gillingham in the new year.

The 20-year-old suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage for the Gills just three games into a half-season loan.

Quigley is set to complete his rehabilitation early next year and boss Justin Edinburgh is keeping tabs on the striker, with a view to bringing him back for the season run-in.

Edinburgh said: “Joe is progressing really well. We have had good dialogue with him and Bournemouth.

“The loan was until January but we have an option and that is something we could look at.

“We are still talking about the new year before he comes back. The club felt things were progressing nicely.

“Obviously what happened was a great shame but I am sure the club would feel nothing has changed from why they first decided to let him come here for the first part (of the season) and would let him back for the second.

“It’s a possibility for us.”
