Kevin Watson has warned his Chatham team to think again before moving for more money.

Boss Watson is expecting interest in his in-form players who have been on a tremendous run in Ryman League Division 1 North.

He wants to keep his young side together and hopes they will look at the bigger picture should big money be available elsewhere.

Watson said: “You have a bit of success and people think they can come in and take your players. There will be interest but we want to keep a lot of the boys and build on the squad we have.

“Part of the reason they are doing well individually is a result of other players in the team and they need to recognise that.

“Money’s a big part of non-league football and some teams are well resourced but that doesn’t always guarantee success.

“Players can’t rely on football money because there are too many variables and things can go wrong. They need to get themselves a day job that pays the wages because if you start relying on football money, it puts you under pressure.”

Chatham visit Cheshunt on Saturday and host Waltham Forest on Easter Monday.
