Their deals are up and Allen - who joined the Gills two years ago from Phoenix Sports after impressing against the Football League side with a wonder strike in the Kent Senior Cup - was one of those to take to social media.

He tweeted: “A huge thank you to all of the staff, players and fans for everything over the past two years at the club.

“Had some great experiences, especially in the FA Youth Cup and making a few appearances for the first team. I wish everyone the best! Time for a new challenge!”

He wrote: “My time at the Gills has ended. I would like to thank you for all the opportunities and memories you have given me over the last three years.

“I would also like to thank the staff, players and fans for everything they have done for me and I wish the club all the best for the future.”
