Costume designer Sandy Powell is using a special outfit to raise money for a Romney Marsh landmark.

The acclaimed costumier attended the BAFTA film awards ceremony wearing a blank suit- which she then filled with an amazing collection of celebrity signatures.

A-list stars including Scarlett Johansson, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino all signed the suit at the event in the London Critics' Circle.

Ms Powell, who has been nominated for a BAFTA and Acadamy Award for her work with Netflix's 'The Irishman', is planning on auctioning off the suit to raise money for Prospect Cottage in Dungeness.

In the first of several Instagram posts showing the growing list of stars lending their signature to the cause, she said: "Day one of my suit signing project featuring luminaries from the film industry to raise money for The Art Fund initiative to save Derek Jarman’s Prospect cottage in Dungeness.

"Once covered in autographs the suit will be up for auction."

The 59-year-old, who has previously won three BAFTAs and Oscars, will also bring the suit to the Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday to collect additional signatures before the auction.

The campaign to save Derek Jarman's house was launched by Art Fund on Wednesday January 22, aiming to raise £3.5 million.

Jarman was a long-time friend and mentor figure to Ms Powell, and as such she is hoping that auctioning the suit will go some way to reaching the final figure.

The project has 54 days left and is nearing £2 million raised from 3,180 donations, with the campaign standing at 54% complete.

Each donation has its own form of reward, ranging from badges and pins to limited edition prints and private art tours.

"International A-list stars and leading artists are supporting this urgent appeal, but its success will help locally by securing Jarman’s artistic legacy in Kent.

"We're looking to bring the renowned garden coaxed from the shingle on the beach back to life, and further enhance the Kentish coast’s reputation as a cultural destination."
