Suspect appears in court charged with a robbery in Lydd town centre

A woman was allegedly robbed at knife point in a town centre.

Police were called to High Street, Lydd, following reports the woman had been approached by a man holding a craft knife, who had then taken money from her purse.

It happened on Sunday, February 14 at around 4.50pm.

Following an investigation by Kent Police's Chief Constable's Crime Squad, Christopher Banks was arrested on Monday.

Banks, of Salisbury Road, Chatham, has since been charged with robbery, possession of a knife and possession of cannabis.

The 24-year-old appeared before Folkestone Magistrates' Court yesterday (Tuesday) and was remanded in custody to appear at court on a date to be arranged.
