A man has been rescued after falling due to slipping on sea defence rocks.

Firefighters were called to aid the victim at Hythe Road, Dymchurch, at 11.04am today.

Crews used safe access equipment and worked with paramedics to get the casualty into a stretcher before removing him to hospital for treatment.

Two fire engines were called and the firefighters were at the scene for just over an hour.

It had first been feared that the victim had fallen from a height.

But Kent Fire and Rescue Service has now confirmed that that he had misstepped and was unable to get himself up again.

A spokesman said: "The injured person slipped on the rocks used as sea defences - not a fall from height, more a misstep and then he was unable to extricate himself."
