Police helicopter circling Romney Marsh as part of search for assault suspect

A police helicopter has been circling above the Romney Marsh this afternoon searching for an assault suspect.

The chopper has been seen over Dymchurch and St Mary's Bay as part of the operation.

Police were alerted to a report of a man being assaulted at a property in King Street, near Brenzett, just before 1.50pm.

A suspect left the scene in a car and has not yet been located.

The car was last seen travelling in the direction of East Sussex, towards Rye.

In an attempt to locate the suspect, a helicopter was deployed in an effort to scour the surrounding area.

The search is ongoing.

The assault victim did not suffer serious injuries and was treated at the scene by medics.
