Motorists coming in and out of New Romney have been enduring chaos due to a set of temporary four-way traffic lights.

The lights were switched on yesterday near to Sainsbury's on Dymchurch Road.

The lights are affecting traffic both ways on Dymchurch Road, Station Road and Church Road.

One disgruntled driver said: "They're only letting three or four cars through each time, and people are getting frustrated.

"I've already seen one person floor it and effectively skip the red light when they got close, they'd clearly been waiting for a long time."

According to Kent County Council's website, the lights are in place to aid BT workers who are working on Openreach fibre cables.

The roadworks, which started on Tuesday, are scheduled to end tomorrow, January 23.
