Police are hunting a vicious would-be robber who pushed his woman victim to the ground.

The 49-year-old was attacked in New Romney on Boxing Day.

It happened at about 5pm as she was walking along The Churchlands, approaching the pedestrian bridge, when she was pushed from behind and fell to the ground.

Police said she heard a man’s voice saying: “Give me what you’ve got.”

But the suspect ran off when a passing motorist stopped to ask the victim if she was all right.

Officers now want to trace that driver. They also want a group of teenagers who were in the area just before the incident to come forward as potentially important witnesses.

If you can help, contact PC Andrew Dale in Folkestone CID on 101 ref: ZY/41866/14.

Or, to remain anonymous, call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
