Firefighters had to cut free a woman after a two-car crash in the centre of New Romney

A woman had to be cut free after a two-car smash.

It happened at the junction of Station Road and the High Street in New Romney just before at around 5.45pm yesterday.

Two fire engines, from Dymchurch and New Romney were called out and firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to take off the car roof.

Crews remained at the scene for 40 minutes.

The woman and a man, with more minor injuries, were both taken by paramedics to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

Kent Police say that the crash involved a Ford Focus and Mercedes-Benz C Class and the road was completely cleared by 8pm.
