A FISH and chip shop at Sandwich has been badly damaged in a fire. An industrial fryer in Ossie's caught alight and caught hold underneath the floor.

Firefighters from Sandwich, Eastry and Deal fought to contain Saturday night's blaze which was smouldering under the floorboards.

The property became heavily smoke logged and firefighters had to wear breathing apparatus in their battle to put out the fire.
