Musicians set for night of entertainment

An evening of musical entertainment is promised when two young violinists join the Becker Orchestra for a concert in Sandwich on Friday, June 27.

Kathy Shave and Florianne Peycelon will be playing the Double Violin Concerto by Bach and Strauss’s Metamorphosen for 23 solo strings at St Mary’s Church.

Tickets cost £15 and are available on the door before the 8pm start, or in Sandwich in advance.

The Becker Orchestra string section will be conducted by John Perkins, who lives in Deal and has been leader of the Becker Ensemble since its formation in 1988.

Other Becker concert dates are set for August 21, again at St Mary’s, and November 7 and December 13 at Sandwich Guildhall.

For ticket details ring 01304 239356 or buy them from the tourist information centre at Sandwich Guildhall, The Sandwich Bookshop, 60 King Street, Sandwich, or Farthings, Delf Street, Sandwich.

The musicians will also be performing another Prom in the Park at Ripplevale School, Ripple, on August 1.
