Sandwich Festival returns on Bank Holiday weekend

A display of Italian cars and and the making of medieval boat parts are among the attractions in a town festival.

The Sandwich Festival is during the Bank Holiday weekend from Saturday, August 28 until Monday, August 30.

First in the programme is a Saturday Market, from 9am, at the Guildhall Forecourt.

There is then a craft stall, from 10am until 4pm, at St Peter’s Church and gardens.

The Medieval Experience is at the Sandwich Medieval Centre on the Quay that Saturday from 10am to 5pm.

A blacksmith will work his forge and make parts for the Medieval boat The Nicholas.

Other crafts will be demonstrated including woodworking, calligraphy and bread making.

Entrance is free but social distancing is requested with a one-way in and out system.

On Sunday, from 10am to 5pm, Italian cars will be on Guildhall square put on by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club, UK Kent and East.

The craft stall at St Peter's returns that day, again from 10am to 4pm.

The Medieval Experience is on for a second time, again from 10am to 5pm.

On Monday, from 10am to 5pm, there is a market at the Guildhall Forecourt.

Events and workshops will be at Sandwich Medieval Centre

That day the craft stall and Medieval Experience return for the third time, at the same times and places as before.

The Sandwich Festival is organised and managed by a small team of volunteers.

Its supporters and funding sponsors include The Sandwich Tollbridge Fund, The Mayor’s Charity, The Sandwich Community Events Association,The Fleur de Lis Hotel, Smugglers Bar and The Kings Arms Hotel.
