SANDY LYLE, winner of the Open at Royal St George's in 1985, returns to Sandwich on Friday night to talk about his illustrious golfing career.

The 48-year-old Scot, who also won the US Masters in 1988, will be publicising his new autobiography, "To the Fairway Born", at Sandwich Guildhall from 7pm.

Lyle said: "I have very fond memories of winning the Open at Sandwich. My primary feeling was a sense of relief that I had finally won my first Major and got that monkey off my back.

"But it is always a pleasure to return to Royal st George's come rain or shne. The course has stood the test of time and remains one of the great venues."

Tickets for Lyle's talk cost £5 and include a glass of wine. They are available from The Sandwich Bookshop, 60 King Street, Sandwich, or by ringing 01304 620404.
