Michael Lundon, of Liverpool, due in court over £20,000 cash-in-transit robbery in Otford

A man who allegedly made off with £20,000 after threatening security van staff is due in court today.

Michael Lundon is accused of robbery and possession of a large kitchen knife having been arrested in the early hours of Tuesday 120 miles away on the M6 at Rugby.

The 39-year-old, of Liverpool, allegedly stole the cash box from outside One Stop in Sevenoaks Road, Otford, at around 11.20am on Monday.

He is due to appear at Maidstone Magistrates' Court today.

The cash box and its contents have been found.

A 48-year-old man, also from Liverpool, has also been arrested in connection to this case. He has been bailed, pending further enquiries, until February 23.

Det Sgt Richard Pringle said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a man loitering in the area in the days leading up to the robbery.

"We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a black Ford Fiesta with an 05 plate in the area."
