Helicopter crew direct police officers to the arrest of two suspected digger thieves in Edenbridge

Police responded quickly to a call from a security guard that an attempt was being made to steal a digger from a building site in St John's Way, Edenbridge.

The National Police Air Service helicopter was first on the scene and its crew were able direct officers from the Roads Policing Unit on the ground to catch two suspects that were seen running away from scene with the digger still at the site.

The incident happened just after midnight this morning.

Two men, aged 18, and 19, both from Edenbridge were detained a short distance away at 1am and arrested on suspicion of theft.

They remain in custody while inquiries continue.
