Police have arrested two men who have been linked to a number of cigarette burglaries around the county.

The men, aged 28 and 29, were arrested and released on bail on Tuesday, October 6 following an attempted burglary at a service station on Tonbridge Road, Hildenborough, on Tuesday, September 29.

They were detained after a Mercedes E-350, linked to one of the break-ins, was tracked to a property in Taunton Road, Northfleet.

Police are not ruling out the possibility that the Mercedes is connected to a number of other cigarette raids reported in recent weeks.

As the officers were waiting to execute the warrant they spotted a van believed to be connected with the reported theft of a motorcycle in Sheerness.

A 23-year-old man was arrested and released on bail relating to the Berridge Road incident.
