Motorists in Kent face further delay after a multi-vehicle crash on the M25 was followed by a vehicle fire.

Traffic built up on the clockwise carriageway following the collision at Junction 7 in Surrey. A subsequent vehicle fire contributed to further queues.

All vehicles were held for 15 minutes after the crash blocked two lanes earlier.

Highways officers were forced to shut the third while they dealt with the crash, with the vehicles now having been moved to the hard shoulder.

Queues stretched past Junction 6 and more than halfway to Junction 5 for Sevenoaks.

No serious injuries are thought to have resulted from the collision.

There was also slow traffic on the same stretch of road anticlockwise due to a broken-down vehicle.

One lane was later closed, with slow traffic on the M25 clockwise from J7 and J8 due to the vehicle fire.

Traffic is now flowing freely.
