An image of a man wanted in connection with a brutal burglary where boiling water was poured over an elderly couple has been released by police.

Officers have released the image as part of a renewed appeal for information after two pensioners suffered serious burns during the incident in Halstead near Sevenoaks last month.

Three men reportedly broke into a property, off London Road, shortly after 9pm, on Tuesday, April 26.

The victims, a couple aged in their 60s, were tied up and assaulted as the men demanded money before fleeing the house with a quantity of cash at around 11pm.

During their ordeal they had boiling water poured onto them, leaving them with life changing injuries.

The man in the image is reported to be of medium height with a stocky build. He is aged in his 20s, has cropped black hair and is believed to speak with a London accent.

The other two men are reported to be white but were wearing dark clothes at the time of the incident.

Sgt Simon Harrold, of Kent Police’s Serious Crime Unit, said: "The victims are both continuing to receive treatment in hospital for their injuries and the woman remains in a critical condition.

"Although the suspects tried to conceal their identities, we have been able to get a very detailed description of one of the men. He was described as black with short cropped hair and was wearing dark clothing.’

"We are continuing to follow a number of lines of enquiry to find the people responsible for this shocking crime and I would urge anyone with any information, no matter how small it may seem, to get in touch."

If you recognise this image, or have any other information that can help this investigation, call the west Kent appeals line on 01622 604100, quoting reference YY/8810/16.
