Ten-year-old Ishwar Sharma from Sevenoaks travelled to Bordeaux to represent the UK in the European Yoga Championship - and came home with a gold medal in the Boys 9-11 category!

All that Iswar has to do now is to try to find somewhere in his trophy cabinet to display it.

The pupil from St Michael's Preparatory School in Otford has already won dozens of medals in international yoga competitions - in Nepal, Canada, Italy, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Turkey - as well as winning consecutive UK national championships.

He was also given the British Indian of the Year Award in 2018 and the British Citizen Youth Award by the UK government for contributions to yoga.

His father Dr Nanjundiah Vishwanath said: "Yoga has helped Ishwar in his academics in school.

"Ishwar with his sister Indira started a e-petition to the UK government to include yoga in school curriculum and it got more than 20,000 signatures. We would like Ishwar to continue to inspire other children and adults to adopt

yoga as a lifestyle choice."
