Police are hunting four men who reportedly assaulted a motorist and stole his car following a three-car motorway smash.

The suspects were travelling in a black BMW, which had been reported stolen, on the London-bound stretch of the M20 between junctions 2 and 1 at 3.45pm yesterday.

Their vehicle smashed into two cars near the Sevenoaks turn off at which point they reportedly got out and into a Honda Jazz which had stopped at the scene but was not involved in the crash, assaulting the driver in the process.

The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries to his face and there were no serious injuries as a result of the collision. His vehicle has since been recovered.

The police helicopter helped in the initial search for the men, with delays reported on the busy commuter route for much of the afternoon.
