A suspected thief is in custody after police on two and four legs apprehended him.

Patrolling dog unit officers spotted a suspicious vehicle, linked to a number of thefts, last night.

Police tried to pull over the car in Hillingdon Avenue, Sevenoaks, but it failed to stop.

PD Cliff helped track down a suspended thief. Picture: Kent Police.

It was tracked down to Fairfield Close in Kemsing 10 minutes later, and officers enlisted the help of police dog Cliff, who was travelling with them at the time.

Cliff and his handlers then found their suspect in an area of scrubland off Park Lane.

The 33-year-old was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and driving with no insurance.

He remains in custody as enquiries continue.
