A Remarkable Trees of Sevenoaks exhibition is currently taking pride of place in Knole's Orangery.

The exhibition, which has been put together by The Sevenoaks Society with the support of The Conservation Volunteers’ Kent Heritage Trees Project, features photography and information about the most iconic trees in the town, including the tallest sessile oak in Britain which grows in Knole Park.

It aims to raise awareness of the importance of trees and woodlands as part of the heritage, environment and community in Sevenoaks.

'The Remarkable Trees of Sevenoaks' is an on-going project of The Sevenoaks Society to locate, record and celebrate the most significant trees in the town, and to highlight the need to protect them.

Trees have been chosen as ‘remarkable’ because of their age, size, location, rarity, vulnerability, historical or cultural association, ecological value or beauty.

The project has involved the community via suggestions of trees from members of the public and links with local schools.

The exhibition is free to visit in the Organery at Knole until Sunday, October 12. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10.30am to 5pm.
