Police have reopened the A20 after an "incident" this morning.

There was a collision between a police vehicle and a suspect car after officers decided on a "tactical stop."

The driver had failed to respond to a request to stop in Westgate-On-Sea and the car was pursued and finally brought to a halt on the A20 near Brands Hatch just after 6am.

Police have closed the road

The road was closed to traffic in both directions between Scratchers Lane and Colin Chapman Way until 9.30pm.

One woman has been treated for minor injuries and one man aged in his twenties, was arrested for associated driving offences and remains in custody.

Police say they initially wanted to stop the vehicle over "concern for the welfare of a woman."

No officers were injured in the incident.
