An elderly man has died in a crash on the M25, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the accident, on the anti-clockwise carriageway between Junction 5 for Sevenoaks and 4 for Bromley and Orpington, just before 10.15am.

Paramedics were called to treat the 85-year-old, from Nottingham, after a car crashed into the central reservation.

Delays are building on the carriageway

Police have since confirmed he was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

The road was closed for almost two hours to allow accident investigation work to be carried out, but has now re-opened.
