Fire in several hundred tonnes of felled trees in Dunton Green

Firefighters tackled a blaze which took hold in several hundred tonnes of felled trees and the surrounding undergrowth overnight.

Crews were called out to the Ivy House Lane area of Dunton Green at just before 10.30pm last night.

They wore breathing apparatus and set up water supplies, including a water tanker and hydrant, before tackling the blaze using four main jets.

By 3.30am today just one fire engine and crew remained, dealing with hot spots as they occurred.

There are no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is unknown.
