A Kent charity that raises money for vulnerable women and children in Bangladesh is holding a sponsored walk.

Funds from the event will go towards building a new street children centre.

Sreepur Village was set up by Pat Kerr, a British Airways stewardess who was struck by the poverty she witnessed while in Bangladesh 27 years ago.

Lord Sackville's garden is a key attraction at Knole

The charity now offers care, education, and training to more than 750 women and children.

The sponsored walk event will take place at Knole House near Sevenoaks on Friday, September 16.

Sreepur Village currently runs a shelter for the street children of Dhaka, but the project has outgrown rented buildings.

Landlords have also proved to be a problem, as they have dictated the opening times of facilities.

The new centre would offer children a place to go 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year.

People of all ages and fitness levels are welcome at this event, and can walk a 2km, 5km, 7.5km, or 10km route.

If you are interested please email Sreepur Village on fundraising@sreepurvillage.org, or call the charity on 020 8658 7585.
