Sevenoaks Community First Responders (CFR) have received a £10,000 grant.

The group is made up of volunteers who are trained and dispatched by the South East Coast Ambulance Service to respond to 999 emergency calls.

Members will use the grant, given by the Big Lottery Fund, to help purchase a new 4x4 response vehicle for Sevenoaks and the surrounding areas.

The vehicle, named Ingrid, is being dedicated in the memory of a former Sevenoaks CFR, Ingrid Easterbook, and will be launched on Saturday by Tonbridge and Malling MP, Tom Tugendhat.

Members of the public, friends and supporters are invited to the event where they can meet the team, learn CPR and enjoy refreshments provided by Raj Bari Indian Restaurant.

The dedication of the vehicle will take place at 10.30am at Sevenoaks Town Council offices in Bradbourne Vale Road.

Mr Tugendhat said: "I am delighted to be attending the launch of Ingrid. She will make a huge contribution to the work of Sevenoaks CFRs. When I first visited James and the team in July I was struck by their dedication to keeping our community safe.

"They perform an indispensable function and provide huge support to our emergency services. Ingrid will help them do even more. I am very proud to be attending the launch on Saturday.”

The primary role of a Community First Responder (CFR) is to be first on scene and provide life-saving emergency treatment in their local area to prevent deterioration, promote recovery and preserve life.
