Time is running out for people to submit their applications for Sevenoaks District Council’s first ever voluntary and community awards.

The ‘Making It Happen’ awards aim to recognise unsung heroes of the District so that their important work can be acknowledged and celebrated.

However entries must be made before Thursday.

Kelly Webb, the council’s Community Safety Manager, said: “We’ve had an absolutely wonderful response for nominations, especially as this is the first year we’ve run the awards. It is so inspiring to hear about the amazing work our residents are doing to support their local communities across the District”.

The awards have eight categories, including Young Volunteer Of The Year, Lifetime Achievement and Group Of The Year.

There have been over 50 nominations so far, but the council is keen for more to be submitted, especially those recognising the work of young people and businesses.

To nominate online click here or via a form which can be obtained by calling 01732 227000 or e-mailing communities@sevenoaks.gov.uk.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Stag Theatre on June 11.
