Wasteland off Chequers Road, opposite the junction of Oak Lane, Minster, is littered with mounds of industrial and household rubbish.

The dumping ground is at the end of a row of houses, and according to complainants, is a danger as well as a blot on the village landscape.

Cllr Andy Booth (Con), ward member for Minster Cliffs, said: “It’s an eyesore and a potential environmental hazard.

“It’s a nightmare to look at and children using it as a play area could be at risk because who knows what the waste contains?”

Cllr Booth said the land had been a target for fly-tippers for about three years.

He said he had contacted Swale council’s environmental team and an enforcement notice had been erected on the land advising the owner to clear it up.

“I think in the next three or four months we should see the land cleaned up and returned to its natural habitat,” Cllr Booth said.
