There was an exotic feel to an Island store when staff held a Pirates of the Caribbean themed charity event.

Staff at Tesco in Sheerness spent the day in full costume to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The cancer charity is Tesco’s nationwide charity of the year, and all the stores in the South East spent the day in costume.

Tesco in Sheerness raised £210.89, and had a visit from Big Fish Arts, who entertained Christmas shoppers.

Linda Hatcher, personnel manager, said: “It was good fun and we are pleased with the amount we raised.

“Big Fish were fantastic and we can’t thank them enough for their support. They went down very well.”
