Appeal after gang attack on autistic man

POLICE are appealing for information about a gang's attack on a 34-year-old autistic and disabled man.

The victim was walking in The Glen, a local beauty at Minster, near Sheerness, when he was surrounded by a group of up to eight young men and women.

One of them used a cigarette lighter to singe his hair which left him with a burn to his head. The group also used cigarettes to burn holes in the jacket of the man who live at Minster.

Det Con Nigel White, who is investigating the incidentsaid: "I am keen to hear from anyone who can help us with this investigation. This assault appears to have been a result of a number of weeks of harassment from local youths and I want to ensure that no more incidents of this nature take place."

He said all reports would be kept strictly confidential and thoroughly investigated.
