The Sheppey Crossing has reopened after a broken down tractor forced the southbound section of the carriageway to close.

Drivers faced queues from A2500 near Leysdown turn off, to B2231 in Sheppey Way at the Lower Halstow turn off.

Kent Police was called at around 12.30pm and one lane was closed while arrangements were made to recover the vehicle.

The lane was reopened at 1.45pm and traffic has now returned to normal.

Highways England and the South East Coast Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
