A new swing for disabled children has been installed in a play area after a Sheerness woman campaigned for one for her grandson.

Linda Munday went to Swale council and MP Gordon Henderson’s office to appeal for the new seat at the park in New Road, Sheerness.

Her six-year-old grandson Sean Munday is severely disabled and cannot walk, talk or sit up.

The 45-year-old said: “He loves going out in the community and that being his local park, two minutes from his house, we felt that these special children needed something.

“Swale council need to do more to accommodate the disabled children which I think is really bad.

“It took about a year but it’s a start.”

The local authority has also repaired the surface underneath.
