A STURDY foxglove which has grown to more than 6ft is showing no signs of slowing down.
Gordon Henderson sent us this picture of the plant in his garden in Halfway.
At a height of 6ft 6ins it is starting to tower over its owner who fears it may take over his garden.
Mr Henderson, who is also the Island’s Parliamentary Tory Candidate, said: “It’s a bit like the Day of the Triffids. What started out as a lovely little foxglove plant just keeps growing and growing.
“To be honest, I don’t know much about gardening. I leave that up to my wife, Louise, but even she doesn’t know when the foxglove is going to stop. I’d be grateful if any local gardener could let me know if this is usual and how tall I can expect the it to grow.”
Although a whopper, Mr Henderson’s foxglove is unlikely to earn a place in the record books just yet.
According to Jack Wilkins from the Kent Federation of Horticultural Societies it is not the biggest he has seen.
He said: “It’s a good height but not a world beater. We had one in Gravesend a while ago that was eight feet high.
