The reason why a father died in his prison cell is still not known.

Andrew Clewes was pronounced dead after being found face-down and unresponsive next to his bed at HMP Swaleside, on the Isle of Sheppey, on November 3.

An inquest opening at the Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone was told a post-mortem was unable to establish a cause of death.

Friends and relatives paid tribute to the 33-year-old, who was born in Stoke-on-Trent, on social media, with one writing: "Everyone's had their up and downs and nobody's a saint.

"He was a great brother/father and will be missed by everyone."

Assistant coroner Joanne Andrews adjourned the full inquest until February 25.
