Seashells Children’s and Families' Centre, Sheerness, scoops top award

Seashells Children’s and Families' Centre volunteers have won a nationwide accolade.

It is the regional and national winner of the Pre-School Learning Alliance Volunteer Awards.

For the south east nomination, a total of 30 helpers earned a certificate for their achievement.

Some of the volunteers at the Rose Street-based centre attended a London ceremony to collect their prize.

The remaining recipients were presented with their award at a celebratory party held at Seashells during National Volunteer Week.

For the national nomination, they travelled to Birmingham where they were presented with their award by TV presenter Amanda Lamb.

Kim Green, Seashells’ family outreach co-ordinator, said: “The awards recognise all the work our volunteers do for us.

“We couldn’t do the range of activities we do without them. It confirms our view of how fantastic and amazing we think they are.”
