The signing of Swale’s Community Covenant has taken place.

It is designed to show the council is committed to working to provide support to the armed forces.

Those present for the signing earlier today at Swale House, East Street, included council leader, Cllr Andrew Bowles, Mayor of Swale, Cllr Sue Gent, and Sandra Fruish, south east area manager of Royal British Legion.

The covenant encourages people to support the services in their area and promote understanding and awareness of issues affecting military personnel.

Though Swale does not have a military base it does have a number of charities, organisations and associations made up of current or retired members including veterans and bereaved families.

There are also a number of cadet units in the borough.
