Crash closes Sheppey's Leysdown Road for more than four hours

A main road was closed for more than four hours after a three-vehicle crash, which saw one driver leave the scene before speaking to police.

Officers were called to the collision in Leysdown Road, Sheppey , shortly before 9pm last night.

It happened near the entrance to Burden Bros farm.

A spokesman said: "Officers and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended. Enquiries are ongoing after it was reported that one of the drivers left the scene before speaking to officers. Police remained at the scene until around 1.20am."

The police helicopter also assisted in the search for the person who is said to have fled. "Enquiries to locate them remain ongoing," the spokesman added.

It is not yet known which vehicles were involved and if any injuries were reported.

The ambulance service has been contacted for more information.
