Arts and crafts took centre stage at a fundraiser for Sheppey Little Theatre on Sunday.

Stalls ranging from homemade cards and Easter eggs to plants and stained glass raised £150 towards a two-storey extension to improve dressing room facilities.

Organiser Janys Thornton said: “It was a big success and we have decided to run more with the changing of the seasons.

“We will have a summer fair and a Christmas fair.”

Construction for the £30,000 building project at the Meyrick Road theatre began in February and the upstairs is finished and in use.

The new space provides an off-stage area for performers as well as rehearsal space and a dance studio.

However, work still needs to be done to finish fittings downstairs and the theatre is appealing for donations to help.

Mrs Thornton added: “The downstairs needs plumbing and toilet equipment.

“Any builders who would like to volunteer to help will be welcome, as will any donations of materials such as floor tiles or toilets.”
