POLICE are investigating a robbery at a bingo hall in Sheerness. Five women members of staff were working at King's Bingo in the Broadway when two men wearing balaclavas burst in.

The intruders took £90 in cash and cigarettes from a vending machine before fleeing. The raid happened yesterday morning. A 34-year-old man was later arrested in the alleyway off of Winstanley Road, Sheerness, on suspicion of robbery. He is currently in police custody. Balaclavas, gloves and a jacket have been recovered from a spot near the bingo hall.

Police are now looking for another suspect. He is described as white, aged between 35 and 40, and between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall. He is of medium build and had short, dark hair which was silver grey round the back and sides with grey sideburns. He was wearing a black jacket, which was recovered by the police, white or cream jogging bottoms with a blue stripe, orange piping, and black shoes.

Det Sgt John Coull urged any members of the public who may have information to contact either himself on 01795 584162, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where calls can be taken anonymously and are in the strictest confidence.
