Sheerness cannabis raid: police appeal for information

A disturbance outside a home led to police discovering a cannabis farm on the Isle of Sheppey.

Officers swooped on a terraced house in St George's Avenue, Sheerness, on Saturday morning and took away more than 100 plants.

A police spokesman said: "Officers were called at about 3.20am following a report that a group of people causing a disturbance outside a property.

"The officers entered the property and found a cannabis cultivation set up in seven rooms, including the loft.

"A large amount of cannabis buds and around 100 plants were located and evidence of the electricity supply being tampered with was also uncovered.

"No arrests have been made and officers continue to make enquiries."

Engineers from UK Power Networks were called on Saturday and were seen digging up the path outside the property.

Neighbours said two "Eastern European" men had been renting the property which has distinctive red doors.
