A pet owner wants to warn others to be on their guard after her beloved dog was left brain-damaged.

Lynda Denman’s Yorkshire terrier Daisy was struck on the head by a golf ball that was hurled into her back garden by someone in the neighbouring alleyway.

The 43-year-old was sitting in her living room on Saturday, September 13, when she heard a loud thud from her back garden.

When she went to investigate the noise she found her rescue dog Daisy lying completely motionless on the ground.

The Alma Street, Sheerness, resident said: “She looked as dead as a doornail. I put her under a cold tap to try to shock her, and then I started blowing into her mouth.

“I called a friend and he took me straight up to the PDSA in Gillingham. By this time she was breathing again. They checked her but they wouldn’t X-ray her brain because that would have cost me £300, which I don’t have.”

Three-year-old Daisy is on the slow road to recovery but is still unable to walk properly and cannot be left alone.

“What worries me is what if there’s a child out there? If that had been my friend’s little girl it would have killed her" - Lynda Denman

The golf ball incident is just the tip of the iceberg for Ms Denman, who says she has experienced numerous problems resulting from people congregating in the alley behind her garden.

In the past, she has found syringes and used condoms thrown over the wall into her back yard.

Ms Denman said: “What worries me is what if there’s a child out there? If that had been my friend’s little girl it would have killed her.”

Kent Police has confirmed it was called to an incident on September 14, but a spokesman said without any evidence to show who threw the ball, it advised Ms Denman to contact the RSPCA.
