Sheppey Sea Cadets take part in a clean-up of their HQ at Barton's Point, off Marine Parade, Sheerness

Sheppey Sea Cadets were busy over the weekend.

Members took part in a clean-up at its HQ at Barton’s Point, Sheerness, on Saturday and prepared boats ready to be taken out on the water in the new year.

It marked the end of an action-packed 2014 which saw the unit win West Kent District Participation and Championship trophies for the 14th year running in addition to scooping the junior section awards.

There was also the usual rounds of competitions and community events as well as the annual District Trafalgar Parade held in Tunbridge Wells and the Remembrance parade in Sheerness.

In addition, cadets and staff held a collection day at Tesco on Christmas Eve and raised £921.78.
