Ethan Cross takes the junior title.

Mark Cross and his son Ethan finished as top island anglers in the Sheerness Steel Sea Angling Club championships.

Over the past year, 100 anglers from the club have been competing for the title of overall champion and in the last seven months, the leaderboard has changed 20 times.

Minster angler Mark Cross took the away shore award, while eight-year-old Ethan showed he also has angling talent with the overall junior title and the home shore championship.

The senior championship was so close that it went to the final match of the year to see who would become overall top rod and angling champion.

Eventual winner was Rick Reader from Gillingham, who also took the home shore championship, with a consistent catch rate throughout the year at various venues around the county and on Sheppey.

Heaviest overall catch of the year was Gareth John with 6.835kg.
